On January 31, SteelOrbis reported import offers on containerized shredded scrap to Bangladesh from various destinations, including the US, down $5/mt since mid-January to $380-385/mt CFR.

According to sources, imported prices on containerized shredded scrap from various regions are now at $377-380/mt CFR Bangladesh. The prices have declined $3/mt from the bottom of the previous range and $5/mt from the top of the same range. Compared to the recent peak around January 10 of offers as high as $400/mt CFR, prices have declined by $20-23/mt.

Offers for imported HMS I/II 80:20 are trending around $355/mt CFR Bangladesh. Compared to the recent peak around January 10 as high as $370/mt CFR, offers have declined by $15/mt.

The offers are reportedly “too high” for Bangladesh buyers, thereby limiting import scrap trades and keeping domestic users focused on domestic scrap inventories and ship scrap.
